Praia da Nazaré (a billboard in the entrance of the neighborhood) is a traditional and symbolic beach on the West Cost of Portugal and was referred by several members of the community has the photographic memory they have from Portugal.
“Hora da Saudade” (south side of Park street) and “Luso Americana” (north side of Park street) are a visual and sound installation based on the Vinyl record collection of two important members of the Portuguese community: Manuel Gaspar and Maria Alves. Manuel Gaspar had for over 30 years a radio program called “Hora da Saudade”, he owns a collection of vinyl records representative of Portuguese music culture. Maria Alves was a Luso American fado singer that use to perform all over the USA. I photographed part of their vinyl record collection and installed the images on the banners on both sides of Park Street and transfer their selection of songs into a music piece that will be playing outside a few stores in the same area.
