  • ICHI-GO ICHI-E (2025)

The essay that opens this book offers an initial mapping of works that have found their primary means of expression in the photography book. It combines description and reflection, offering insights into the relationship between Portuguese photographic practice and Japan as both a physical and imaginary territory. Rather than dwelling at length on each case, it prefers to open up avenues of interpretation and suggest affinities, presenting itself as an essayistic gesture in motion. • LIVROS DE FOTOGRAFIA EM PORTUGAL: DA REVOLUÇÃO AO PRESENTE (2024)

This book immerses the reader in the significant history of the Portuguese photography book from the 1970s onwards. It chooses the photography book as its subject of study because it serves as a vehicle for artistic and documentary creation, and as a focal point for collaboration between photographers, designers, writers and publishers. Divided into seven thematic chapters, it analyses book production during the Revolution, the relationship between photographic image and text, the archival and institutional dimension of the photography book, the material and performative qualities of this editorial and artistic practice, as well as the idea of territory and identity. Offering a comprehensive contextualisation of the selected books, it encompasses historical, political, artistic and social aspects, with the aim of contributing to an innovative reading of the history of photography in Portugal.

  • [TASCAS] (2020)

In the book [TASCAS], thirty authors pay tribute to the tasca, a popular and affordable restaurant typology, essential to Lisbon's local culture. Through photographs, texts, and graphic essays, we revisit the last five decades, where historically coal-stores evolved to taverns, cellars to eateries, and grocery stores to the tascas, which still play a central role in our daily urban experience.
